Environmental Clinic

Cutting Edge Research

At JSW Law, we believe research should do more than sit on a shelf. The Climate Change and Environmental Law Clinic engages students in “active” scholarship, using policy research and field inquiry to address biodiversity protection and sustainable development. Being Bhutan’s only law school grants our students a unique seat at the table; Clinic research often leads directly to policy recommendations for government leaders and international organizations. Our responsiveness to national needs is best seen in our partnership with WWF–Bhutan, where students led advocacy efforts against illegal wildlife poaching. By bridging the gap between the classroom and the field, the Clinic ensures that legal education is not just theoretical, but a vital tool for environmental governance in the HKH region.

Workshops

Through specialized training and high-level forums and workshops, we equip current professionals with the tools to navigate complex environmental regulations and climate disputes.

Conferences

We bridge the gap between silos. By convening international scholars, government officials, multilateral organizations, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), we foster dialogue that leads to collaborative, actionable climate solutions.

Projects

We generate evidence-based legal research that addresses the specific climate vulnerabilities of the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. Our work moves beyond theory to influence national policy and regional environmental jurisprudence.
